A Bit About Us The name, Spirits of the Rocks, came from one of my very first creations. These are fun pins named after their inspiration, Native American Petroglyphs. My mom, Carol Simmons, actually came up with the name. I still make these pins and have expanded quite a bit! I, Leah Simmons DeCapio, have "made stuff" all my life and hold degrees in Studio Arts and Anthropology (from the University of Colorado). My goal is to create beautiful "things" that make others as happy looking at or using them as they make me when I create them! My husband, Scott DeCapio, and I make all of the ceramic art together! His educational background is in Biology (from Johnson State in Vermont). He now is a professional Alpinist (and artist) and has gone on expeditions all around the world: from Alaska to Kyrgyzstan. When he's not climbing, he is in the studio with me! We live and create in the tiny mountain town of Glen Haven, Colorado (just 7 miles north of Estes Park, home of Rocky Mountain National Park). We are surrounded by nature, and most of our designs are inspired by this! We have a little store in "downtown" Glen Haven and feature a number of artisans in addition to ourselves! We are open Mother's Day weekend-Memorial Day. Our "regular" hours are Thurs-Sun, 10-6 and by appointment. In the winter/off season months, we are open by appointment, 970-586-0920. We also have our work featured in my mother's (Carol Simmons) gallery, The Sunflower Art Studio & Gallery in Denver at 4230 Tennyson , 303-778-1321.
